Following a dream...and Cordelia arrives!

I thought it was time I introduced Cordelia.

She arrived a couple of weeks ago; how exciting when the courier truck pulled up and a large cardboard box with my name on it was brought out of the back.  I felt as excited as a 6 year old (and my 6 year old and my 9 year old were pretty excited too!)

She is a Cordoba (so you see Cordelia is entirely appropriate) C5 CE Thinbody.  Slim body, semi acoustic nylon string, with an automatic tuner, and she came in a very good guitar bag too, which I wasn't expecting.

She's lovely to play, and was a bargain too, so I'm a very happy little beginner-muso.

This guitar-playing caper is in danger of becoming an addiction I think.  I'm loving it so much, I'm playing constantly (though not always...or rather, not mostly, the things my guitar teacher has set!), and I'm hearing guitar music in my head all the time that my fingers desperately want to be able to play.  Right now, after seeing Tracey last week (see previous post) I've got serious Blues riffs going round and round in my head.  Cordelia is a little too well-bred for some real down-and-dirty blues...so I borrowed my mum's steel string and worked out how to change the tuning to DADGAD (guitar players will know what that means) and lo and behold...it sounds like the blues!  Now I just need one of those slidey things!

I've been saying "I wish I could play the guitar" for over 25 years.  And now I am...and I think I'm going to be good at it!  So the moral of this story is...it's never too late to follow a dream, you're not too old, start NOW!

Nice looking guitar! I know that guitar obsession only too well, you just end up having to pick it up at every available opportunity, and once you start making those blues sounds....

Okay, you've got your poetry and your music integrated (songwriting) so now, figure out how to work your art into the mix, and you'll have covered all the bases.

Fantastic!
I'll have to show my husband who lives and breathes guitars and probebly has far too many!
I really think a quality instrument has a soul all of its own and needs to be played to truly live - and the more its played the deeper and brighter it will sing with you and through you... Its a great thing to hear/see when a player and an instrument become one single entity...
I better stop rambling on now that's quite enough from me!
Hope you have great fun getting aquainted!

My guitar is called 'Neglected' (lol) ... I just got it restringed and so that means that it really is time to fiddle with it. Perhaps then I will name her?

Never too late indeed ... can't wait for you to post footage of yourself playing.

What excitement! Have fun.... and someday I hope you'll share a snippet. My guitar sits for months at a time, seems to be sitting more and more these days! It gets harder to just pick it up and be good anymore, though at one time it was.

Wow Mermaid, she is beautiful! Good for you to just go for it. Music is a perfect therapy and compliment to other creative endeavors. Bravo.

Beautiful guitar. And, might I say, what an inspiration you are. It is so easy to say (with so many things in life) that it's too late to begin something new. Rubbish to that.

Can't wait to hear some clips.

Fantastic, always thought it would be wonderful to play an instrument. Mr o walks about with tunes runnng through his head all the time too & being a piano player taps them out on allsorts of things, even "moi" sometimes lol.
