Ink paintings with biggest Munchkin while littlest was at a birthday party.
Lovely things in the post. Cards from my girls posted from their Nanny's down south. And 5 tiny ceramic robins make by Makiko Hastings. Makiko is endeavouring to make 1000 robins to sell to raise funds for Japan. You can read about her HERE.
The munchkins have lately been pestering for a treasure hunt. Hmmm, what could this be on the old dining table?
Goodness me, could it be? An ancient map, hundreds of years old, surely?! Hmm, looks like a pretty dangerous place to be, what with dragons and wolves, witches and goblins. But where does the map lead?
Ahhh, a long list of clues that must be followed to the letter! I probably got a little carried away with the clues, I wasn't intending for them to rhyme all the way through, but they just started off like that and kept going, and I was having fun. So the munchkins packed lunch, and their invisibility spells and Goblin spying stones, and set off like two intrepid explorers. Kept them amused for all of an hour (they did it twice and I had to go back and hide the treasure again...in the same spot!)
And while I was playing about with paper and tea...and tea bags...
I've never cut open a tea bag before...that's what they look like. Tea and some added Sepia ink.
Makes an interesting kind of print. I rather like this, but what am I going to do with it?
All just playing around with no thought gone into it, so I made a little book of nothing, just for fun.
I really like it, but there's something in me that says a book needs words...or pictures. Or it's not really a book. I don't know, do you think it's finished?!

looks like you had a great time with the kiddos- and you can always always add your own little pictures to the book after you savor the craftsmenship of the book itself!
What a great time for your girls! I've done some coffee painting myself - both accidentally and on purpose. You have such creative ideas!
Want to come to MY house and leave a map? What fun... and the book is beautiful! I love tea-stained paper.
Oh I love treasure hunts! I did a short one on my eldsest's 6th birthday party last year but yours looks fabulous and so fantastically arcane!
Love the little book too, perhaps it should have spells in it...
Maybe it's finished for you, and could be a gift for someone else (an older munchkin?) to add words/art to.
What a fab Mummy you are, making such a convincing treasure hunt. Inspiring :o).
Tea bag guts are quite interesting but that is a most fantabulous map...what a cool mum you are!
I might go buy a little bird.
I think your little book might be a good place for secrets in a coded language.
I 've done some painting exercises with coffee...I wonder if I steep my green tea long enough I could paint with it...hmmm!
oh my, i love your little book of nothing. looks like a journal to me.
talk about take things to the next level, I loved the map so much, like how you live in an Ancient Temple, who is the witch who peers out the window?/ is that your kitchen window by any chance? Awesome work, I loved this stuff as a kid too, and the new book.....hmm looks like a collaboration to me, let it go to someone else to finish!!!
beautiful work

Your little book of nothings is fantastic! I think you could use those to make little treasure maps.
Very nice! :)
Such loveliness you have been creating through the hols. The map brings back memories, i used to love making them for my 3, the best ever was a pirate themed birthday with a hidden treasure chest at the end. I love the wee book you have created too, all the subtle colour variations. i would be longing to fill it with magical words x
